Brought Ashley out for a "leash-less" walk just now. This little chirpy dog was so happy and excited - practically prancing like a pony when he knew that he was selected to go 'gai gai'.
When we reached the field, he sprang enthusiastically towards the grass as if he had not seen grass for the longest time and started to furiously investigate for the right precise patch to pee on. Amidst this enthusiasm, he constantly checked on me to see if I was still around, making sure I was always in sight. Whenever he walked too fast ahead of me, he would slow down to wait for me.
This is Ashley...
These little gestures of his made me feel so important. It made me feel that I am his everything. He's really a sweet dog. A bundle of joy in my life. Nevermind the stress at work. Coming home to this is totally worthwhile.
If you have been contemplating whether to keep a dog or a cat, I strongly encourage you to do so. BUT - please adopt if possible. Give the unwanted animals a second chance at life.
I adopted Ashley when he was 8 years old and I have never once regretted it. Check out these websites and hopefully you will be able to find your ideal dog too. Good luck!
